Acidex Heartburn & Indigestion Liquid is an aniseed-flavoured antacid and alginate liquid taken after meals and at bedtime.

Used for

  • Relief from heartburn and acid indigestion.
  • Helpful in managing acid reflux-related indigestion.

Ingredients

Each 10mL contains sodium alginate 500mg, sodium bicarbonate 267mg and calcium carbonate 160mg. Also contains saccharin, hydroxybenzoates and sodium 141mg per 10mL.

Directions

  • Shake the bottle well before use. Take after meals and at bedtime, up to four times daily.
  • Adults and children over 12 years: 10–20mL.
  • Children 6–12 years: 5–10mL.
  • Under 6 years: should only be given on a doctor’s advice.
  • It is recommended that you do not lie down or go to bed immediately after taking Acidex.

Warnings

  • Parahydroxybenzoates can cause formation of a raised, itchy skin rash or hives, flaky dry skin patches (dermatitis), and rarely tightness in the chest and difficulty breathing.
  • Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you are on a special diet such as a low-salt diet, or if you have allergies to any of the ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you are taking quinidine, ACE inhibitors, analgesics, antibacterials, antidiabetics, antiepileptics, antifungals, antimalarials, antipsychotics, anti-ulcer medication, bisphosphonates, digoxin, iron preparations or penicillamine.
  • If symptoms persist for more than two weeks, consult your doctor.
  • Keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children.
