Canesten Extra Antifungal Anti-Inflammatory Cream 30g

Canesten Extra is a broad-spectrum antifungal and anti-inflammatory cream containing two active ingredients. Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal used to treat fungal skin infections, and hydrocortisone is a mild steroid that reduces the swelling, redness and itching of inflamed skin.

Used for

Applied to the skin to treat and soothe inflamed fungal skin conditions, such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), external symptoms of thrush, jock itch, fungally infected nappy rash, ringworm, fungal skin rash, and fungally infected eczema or dermatitis.

For external use only – not for vaginal thrush. For conditions without inflammation, use an antifungal without hydrocortisone, such as Canesten Clotrimazole Anti-fungal Cream.

Ingredients

Clotrimazole 10 mg/g and hydrocortisone 10 mg/g (as hydrocortisone acetate 11.2 mg/g). Contains benzyl alcohol 20 mg/g as a preservative.

Directions

Apply a small amount thinly and evenly, with gentle rubbing, to the affected area twice daily.

Use only until the inflammation, itching and redness have subsided, and for no more than 7 days unless a doctor has told you otherwise. Then use a clotrimazole-only cream, such as Canesten Clotrimazole Anti-fungal Cream, for 14 days after the symptoms disappear to avoid recurrence. If you are not sure what to do, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings

• For external use only. Do not take the cream by mouth, and do not use it in the eyes.
• Do not use for more than 7 days unless a doctor has told you to.
• Avoid use on acne or broken skin.
• Not suitable for children under 2 years.
• Do not cover the treated area with waterproof bandages.
• Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
• Contains benzyl alcohol 20 mg/g as a preservative.
