Codral Cold & Flu tablets are a codeine-free daytime formula that pairs a pain reliever and fever reducer with a decongestant, for relief of the main symptoms of a cold or the flu.

Ingredients

Each tablet contains:

• Paracetamol 500 mg — an analgesic thought to inhibit a pain-transmitting enzyme produced in the brain; it relieves headaches and other body aches and pains, and also helps reduce fever
• Phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg — helps to relieve blocked and runny noses

Directions

Adults and children 12 years and over: 2 tablets every 4–6 hours as necessary. Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours.

This medicine should not be taken for longer than a few days in adults, or 48 hours in children, except on medical advice.

Warnings

• Incorrect use may be harmful.
• Do not use for children under 12 years.
• Do not use if you have taken paracetamol.
• Do not use if the carton seal is broken or missing, or if the tablet foil is broken.
• Ask your doctor before use if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, are taking antidepressants, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking any other medicines to treat cough and cold.
• Phenylephrine may cause sleeplessness in some people.
• If symptoms persist, see your doctor.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Keep to the recommended dose. If an overdose is taken or suspected, ring the Poisons Information Centre (New Zealand 0800 764 766) or go to a hospital straight away even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed serious liver damage.
