Codral Day & Night is a two-tablet regimen for cold and flu, codeine free. The day tablet relieves pain, fever and a blocked or runny nose without a sedating ingredient; the night tablet adds a sedating antihistamine for a runny nose and watery eyes, which also aids rest.

Ingredients
Each day tablet contains:
- Paracetamol 500 mg — an analgesic thought to inhibit a pain-transmitting enzyme produced in the brain; it relieves headaches and other body aches and pains, and also helps reduce fever
- Phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg — helps to relieve blocked and runny noses
Each night tablet contains:
- Paracetamol 500 mg
- Phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg
- Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg — a sedating antihistamine used for the relief of a runny nose and watery eyes; because it is sedating, it also aids rest
Directions
Adults and children 12 years and over:
- Day: 2 red tablets
- Night: 2 orange tablets as necessary
Every 4–6 hours. Maximum 6 day tablets and 2 night tablets in 24 hours.
Warnings
- Incorrect use may be harmful.
- Do not use for children under 12 years.
- Do not use if you have taken paracetamol.
- Do not use if you have taken antihistamines.
- Do not use if the carton seal is broken or missing, or if the tablet foil is broken.
- Ask your doctor before use if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, are taking antidepressants, are pregnant, or are taking any other medicines to treat cough and cold.
- Phenylephrine may cause sleeplessness in some people.
- Night tablets only: may make you drowsy. If drowsy, do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery. Avoid alcohol.
- Keep to the recommended dose. If an overdose is taken or suspected, ring the Poisons Information Centre (New Zealand 0800 764 766) or go to a hospital straight away even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed serious liver damage.
