Dettol Antiseptic Liquid has been a fixture of the bathroom cupboard for generations. Diluted, it cleanses minor cuts, scratches and insect bites and helps protect them from infection; it also works as a household disinfectant on hard surfaces and freshens laundry in the rinse cycle.

Ingredients

Active: chloroxylenol 4.8% w/v (48 mg/mL).

Directions

First aid: prepare a 1:20 dilution using 20 mL (about 1 capful) in 400 mL of water. Cleanse the affected area liberally with the diluted solution until the area is wiped clean. Discard any unused mixture.

Surface disinfection: for household-grade disinfection, prepare a 1:20 dilution using 20 mL in 400 mL of water. Wipe down hard surfaces around the home; there is no need to rinse. Discard the diluted solution after use.

Bathing: add 30 mL to bath water. Not to be used when bathing babies under 9 months old, except on medical advice.

Laundry: add 30 mL to the rinse cycle to freshen linen, nappies or other laundry.
