Dr Reddy's Omeprazole works at the source of the problem by reducing excess stomach acid, so one capsule a day gives ongoing relief from the discomfort of reflux and heartburn. It is a Pharmacy Only Medicine for the short-term relief of reflux-like symptoms, heartburn or regurgitation in people aged 18 years and over, and no prescription is needed.

Used for

Short-term relief of gastric reflux-like symptoms. Indigestion — sometimes called dyspepsia — is a general term for an uncomfortable feeling in the stomach or upper abdomen, and the discomfort sometimes includes a burning pain, or heartburn. People with indigestion or heartburn may notice one or more of the following:

• eating may worsen or relieve symptoms
• a burning feeling behind the breastbone, moving up towards the throat, usually about 30 minutes after eating or lying down
• discomfort or pain in the area between the ribs and the belly button
• too much gas or feeling bloated, which may be relieved by burping
• feeling sick (nausea)
• feeling full, or needing less food than usual to feel full
• a lump in the throat from stomach material being regurgitated and re-swallowed

Common triggers for indigestion and heartburn include smoking, coffee or strong tea, alcohol, spicy and fatty foods, foods such as cucumber, onion and chocolate, pregnancy, being overweight, stress, rushed, missed or large meals, and some medicines including aspirin and other anti-inflammatories.

Ingredients

Each capsule contains:

• Omeprazole 20 mg, as enteric-coated granules

Directions

• Take one capsule daily, in the morning, 30 minutes before food.
• Swallow whole with water. Do not chew or crush the capsules.
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
• Do not take for more than 14 days.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist, recur or worsen, or if new symptoms occur.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or are taking any other medicines.

Warnings

Except on medical advice, do not use if you have:

• persistent regurgitation of food or vomiting
• difficulty swallowing, or symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding
• weight loss
• severe pain, for example pain that wakes you
• blood in stools or vomit
• failed treatment
• a sensation of food sticking in the throat
• symptoms that have lasted a long time, consistently for more than 5 days

This is a Pharmacy Only Medicine for people aged 18 years and over. Do not use if you have an allergy to omeprazole or to any of the capsule ingredients. The most common side effects are diarrhoea, wind (flatulence), constipation, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and headache. If symptoms continue or side effects develop, see your doctor or pharmacist.
