QV Flare Up Bath Oil is a bath oil for the treatment of infected mild atopic eczema. It works in two ways at once: it reduces the level of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on eczema skin, and it leaves a thin film of oil that helps the skin hold on to moisture. It is an option where a bleach bath is difficult to manage.

It is worth treating a flare up as soon as it starts.

Used for

  • For the treatment of infected mild atopic eczema
  • Reduces the level of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on eczema skin
  • Forms a thin occlusive layer that helps prevent moisture loss and aids rehydration
  • Soothes irritated skin and decreases roughness and scaling
  • Helps break the itch–scratch cycle
  • Suited to recurrent eczema, especially where secondary Staphylococcus aureus infection is a concern

Product details

  • Form: bath oil
  • Pack size: 200 mL
  • Suitable for: adults and children 6 months and over
  • Brand: QV

Ingredients

Actives: light liquid paraffin 65.1% w/w, benzalkonium chloride 2.0% w/w and triclosan 0.7% w/w.

Directions

  • Fill the bath with water. There must be at least enough water to submerge the bottle to the marked fill line.
  • Add the bath oil a drop at a time, stirring the water gently by hand so it spreads evenly. The water will start to turn cloudy.
  • There are two panels on the back of the bottle, one black and one grey. Submerge the bottle in the bath until the fill line on the bottle and the water level meet.
  • There is enough bath oil in the water when the grey panel blends into the cloudiness and is no longer visible, and the black panel can still be seen.
  • If both panels are still visible, repeat the previous two steps until only the black panel is visible. The panels do not change colour, and are still there when the pack is taken out of the water.
  • If neither panel is visible there is too much bath oil in the water. Add more water and repeat until only the black panel is visible.
  • Soak in the bath for 10 to 15 minutes, then gently pat the skin dry.
