Hiprex is used for the prevention or suppression of bacteria in the urine that can cause chronic or recurrent urinary tract infections. It works best in an acidic environment and should not be used with urinary alkalinising agents, as this may reduce its effectiveness.

Ingredients

Each tablet contains methenamine hippurate 1g.

Directions

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare professional. It may be taken with or without food.

Not recommended for use in children under 12 years.

Warnings

  • Do not use if you are taking sulphonamides, acetazolamide or urinary alkalising agents.
  • Do not use if you have gout, severe liver or kidney conditions, or are severely dehydrated.
  • Tell your pharmacist or doctor before taking Hiprex if you are taking any other medicines, have any medical conditions, or use a catheter.
  • See your doctor as soon as signs of a urinary tract infection appear.
  • Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
  • Keep the bottle cap tightly sealed. Do not use if the seal is broken or the use by date has expired.
