NAUSICALM 50mg Tablets 6s

Nausicalm is an antihistamine tablet used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting. The active ingredient, cyclizine hydrochloride, acts on the vomiting centre in the brain and on the vestibular system of the inner ear, which is the part of the balance system that motion sickness disturbs. This pack contains six tablets, enough for a return trip or a short course.

Used for

Nausicalm is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting, including motion sickness, nausea and vomiting caused by narcotic analgesics and by general anaesthetics in the post-operative period, and radiotherapy — particularly in breast cancer, because cyclizine does not elevate prolactin levels. It may also be of value in relieving vomiting and attacks of vertigo associated with Ménière’s disease and other forms of vestibular disturbance.

Ingredients

Cyclizine hydrochloride 50mg per tablet. Contains lactose.

Other ingredients: acacia, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, potato starch, purified water.

Directions

• Adults and children over 12 years: one tablet, up to three times daily.
• Children 6–12 years: half a tablet, up to three times daily.
• Children under 6 years: not recommended.
• For travel sickness: take with a little water about 30 minutes before departure. The dose may be repeated every 6–8 hours.
• Maximum: three tablets in 24 hours for adults.

Take the lowest dose that controls your symptoms, for the shortest time you need it.

Warnings

• Do not take Nausicalm if you have a known hypersensitivity to cyclizine.
• Cyclizine may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
• Avoid alcohol. Cyclizine may add to the effects of alcohol and other central nervous system depressants such as sleeping tablets and tranquillisers.
• Use with caution and appropriate monitoring if you have glaucoma, an obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract, or, in men, an enlarged prostate.
• Use with caution if you have severe heart failure.
• Use in pregnancy is not advised. It is not known whether cyclizine passes into breast milk — tell your pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• This tablet contains lactose. Tell your pharmacist if you have a lactose intolerance.
• Tell your pharmacist about any other medicines you are taking, including ones bought without a prescription.
• Keep out of reach of children.
