A single strand cannot unravel, so it glides through tight contact points without shredding or fraying — the usual frustration with floss picks. Because the smooth tape flattens where it meets the gum rather than cutting in like round floss, it is gentle on gum tissue and needs noticeably less force to work through very tight contacts. That makes it a practical choice for the spaces an interdental brush cannot fit — typically between the front teeth and at especially tight contact points.
