Proctosedyl Ointment combines hydrocortisone, a steroid, with cinchocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic. Together they reduce swelling, numb pain and relieve itching.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: hydrocortisone 5 mg/g and cinchocaine hydrochloride 5 mg/g.

Also contains: liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin and wool fat.

Directions

For best results, first empty your bowels without straining. Wash and dry the anal area. Wash your hands well with soap and water before and after use, then apply as directed on the label.

Warnings

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking other medicines, or have or have had any medical conditions — especially cuts or abrasions around the anus, fungal infections such as thrush, severe or prolonged pain, or blood in the faeces.
