Melolin* is made of a highly absorbent cotton and acrylic fiber pad, which is heat-bonded to a thin perforated polyester film on one side. The film side of the dressing should be placed next to the wound.
 
Melolin consists of three layers:

1. Low adherent perforated film

2. Highly absorbent cotton/acrylic pad

3. Hydrophobic backing layer
